THE MOVE
The Skip
Detroit’s original alley-bar flex—casual, unpredictable, and one of the easiest places to show off the city.
BUILD A NIGHT AROUND THISThe Skip was the first bar in Detroit 2.0 that made me think: an open-air bar in a repositioned alley? That’s pretty crazy. The crowd can be light or spilling into The Belt, a DJ may or may not show up, but it’s always a good time. Street art, low-key energy, and no pretense make it especially good with out-of-towners.
Use it as the first or last drink of the night. Before a Tigers game is a classic move.
You’re showing visitors something uniquely Detroit, pregaming a Tigers game, or want a casual drink in The Belt.
You want a polished cocktail destination or a quiet, predictable room.
